Visceral fat
Fat stored around the organs inside your abdomen. This is the type of fat tesamorelin has reduced in selected clinical studies.
Around organsIf you’re managing obesity and carrying extra weight around your middle, understanding abdominal fat is a useful starting point. Explore tesamorelin’s role, what to track, and how to support your wider weight-loss goals.
The focus is deeper abdominal fat, preserving strength, and a sustainable plan.
When your goal is a smaller waist, it helps to know that abdominal fat sits in two places: around the organs and beneath the skin. Both can contribute to the size of your abdomen.

Around organsFat beneath the skin—the softer layer you can often pinch. Changes in this layer are a separate goal from reducing deeper visceral fat.
Under the skinRecord weight trends and measure your waist consistently. They tell you different things about your progress; a tape measure cannot isolate visceral fat. Use these alongside how your clothes fit, your strength, and your health checks.
Tesamorelin’s area of interest is visceral fat. In a 12-month study of 60 adults with abdominal obesity and reduced growth-hormone release, it reduced this deeper fat compared with placebo. Fat beneath the abdominal skin did not change significantly.
For your overall plan, keep abdominal fat, appetite, and total body weight in view. The study involved a selected group and a different schedule from the example below, so its results cannot predict your response to that cycle.
Tesamorelin signals the body to release growth hormone, which influences fat metabolism. If hunger and portions are your main challenges, those need their own place in your obesity-care plan; tesamorelin does not work like a GLP-1 appetite treatment.
Activates GHRH receptors in the pituitary gland.
Stimulates the body’s own growth-hormone release.
Raises IGF-1 and influences fat and tissue metabolism. Higher levels are not automatically better.
Keeping everyday tasks manageable matters alongside changes in your weight. Build your routine around regular movement, strength work, and nourishing meals.
You do not need an advanced gym routine to begin. Short activity sessions count. Work toward strength exercises on at least two days each week, using movements you can do safely.
Strength training helps support muscle during weight loss. In a trial of older adults with obesity, programs including resistance exercise limited lean-mass loss more than aerobic exercise alone.
Begin with manageable walks and strength exercises suited to your mobility. Build up gradually; the workout examples can be adapted to your starting point.

Review food & macrosCompare weight and waist measurements over time. Also note practical changes, such as walking farther or finding daily tasks easier.
Estimate your caloriesThe example covers a 12-week course followed by a four-week break. During the course, the proposed dose is 2 mg per day, Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday off. This is a community-style example, not an established obesity-treatment schedule. The dose and suitability need a prescriber’s review.
The example places scheduled doses at bedtime. Follow your prescriber’s timing instructions; research has not established bedtime as more effective.
2 mg on Sunday–Thursday
Friday & Saturday off each week
No tesamorelin during the break.
These weekly days off are separate from the full four-week break after week 12.
The weekly days off and the four-week break serve different places in the example. Use the longer pause to review symptoms, waist and weight trends, IGF-1, and glucose with a clinician.
Keep nutrition and activity consistent. Visceral fat can return after treatment stops, so the longer-term plan matters beyond the course.
A break is not a proven receptor reset. Review your response before considering another course.
Keep the weekly routine and your progress records simple enough to maintain.
The example uses Sunday through Thursday during the course, with Friday and Saturday off. Keep the full four-week break separate from those weekly days off.
Log weight, waist, symptoms, food, activity, and other treatments. That context makes changes easier to interpret.
Compare your results with the starting point. Use the review to decide what belongs in your continuing obesity-care plan.
Use weight and waist trends alongside blood sugar, symptoms, and follow-up. If you have prediabetes or diabetes, discuss glucose monitoring before considering tesamorelin.
Do not use tesamorelin during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contact the prescriber if planning pregnancy or if pregnancy occurs during treatment.

How and where to inject: the illustrated subcutaneous guide.
Itching, redness, or mild swelling can occur after injections. A clean, cool compress can help with mild local discomfort. Seek advice if symptoms persist.
Biofreeze Professional spray is for muscle and joint pain. Its label excludes wounded or irritated skin; it is not recommended here for injection-site itching.
Spreading redness, heat, worsening pain, or fever needs prompt assessment. Trouble breathing, facial swelling, or fainting requires emergency care.
